This week I took apart in the Alternative Spring Break Detroit 2008 experience. Being a team leader and intern for the ASB Detroit project, I had a unique opportunity to meet students from around the country and within the state, who were very excited about rebuilding the surrounding metropolitan community of Detroit. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors: FedEx, Deloitte, United Way, University of Michigan-Dearborn, Panera Bread, Enterprise, Kroger, Target, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan. Thank you for such a great experience!
This week I worked with the Ray West Memorial Ramp Project. TEAM FRESH, including I were helping to rebuild a ramp for a young man who was parallelized from the waist down. It was very heartfelt to know that this young man could not get in and out of his house without the help of his children lifting him. So our task was to build a ramp to give this young man his freedom back.
The entire week, the weather was very challenging and it caused as a disturbance to the project but not to the individuals who were participating. Team Fresh has been a blast and we really love hanging out with each other. I wish all the members of this Great team much success in the future and I know each one will bring about change to our world.
